ICONS
OF OUR INDUSTRY |
|
|
ICM Members that have freely given more than
their share of time and effort to the Institute - and indeed
to the Credit Industry as a whole - are classed in a special
form of membership.
Known as Fellow Members this category truly embodies the
spirit of what the ICM is all about and the reason why in
1953 a group of Credit Professionals started the Institute
in the first place.
These are members whom have truly committed themselves to
the Institute’s aim of raising professional standards in
credit management; increasing awareness of the crucial
management function that credit plays as a vital role in
marketing, cash flow and profitability; and in educating and
informing our ever-growing membership base.
In short, these are members whom have committed themselves
to giving something back to their profession and community.
Fellow members are elected only via a unanimous decision by
the Board of Directors of the Institute and we honor the
following individuals for their efforts:

Mr P S Buitendag (FICM) |
My association with the Institute has been
long and varied.
On 20 October 1974 I became a member and studied all that
was available. My facilitators were Ken mills and Koot
Erasmus.
In 1979 a second Institute was formed as the United
Association of Credit Management. Many members had dual
membership.
In 1980 I became an Associate member and served on the
Transvaal Branch for many years and in different capacities.
I was lecturer for the institute and assisted in the
development of Credit 2 and 3, and was the first presenter
of both the courses.
I served as Chairman of Transvaal Branch and then as
President in 1987/88. During my Presidency we negotiated a
successful unification of the ICM and the UACM.
I was granted Fellow Membership in March 1986. |
